Our Story
Yuyi began with a name I carried with me long before I knew what it meant. Years later, I discovered the word Yu Yi in The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows by John Koenig — a longing to experience life with the same intensity and wonder we once felt as children.
That feeling stayed with me, and became Yuyi.
The Heart of Yuyi
For over eight centuries, the hills of Uji, Kyoto have been home to some of Japan’s most celebrated tea. In Ujitawara, small family farms have passed the craft of tea growing through generations. It is here that our matcha begins.
